Final Script_Scene 1


(Brother teaching Main Character how to do homework in the study room.)

(Mother walks in with a bottle of drink.)

Mother to brother: Oh ah boy, you are so hardworking!!  Come have some drinks!

Main Character: Mummy, I don’t have??

Mother: Study so lousy still want slack every day?? Go Study!!

(Mother walks out of the room.)

Main Character: Why is Mummy always so bias against me?? I hate my life!

(Main Character stomps out of the room.)



Mother: Hey,________, long time no see!! Oh my god you still look so young! ^o^

Friend: Ahhh, you also, you also...

Mother: Eh, your son took “o level” already right?

Friend: Ah yah…

Mother: Wah, guess what’s my son’s position in the school?!

Friend: Top…10 ??

Mother: Top 10 ?? First one!!

Friend: Then your daughter leh?? Results must be good right?? 

Mother (suddenly interrupts): Eh, I no time already, need rush home wash clothes. Bye bye!!

(Mother escapes from her friend.)

-              Scolded by teacher.

Final Script_Scene 2


Main Character talking to camera:
  • You know why I hate my life? Because I hate my Mum.
  • You know why I hate my mum? Because she is so bias against me, 
  •  I mean like what I do wrong, I just can’t study,
  • It’s really not my fault, I really can’t help it.
  • Every time she sees me… (Naggg....)
  • Whatever my brother say… (Good Job! )
  • But whatever I say… (Go Study Now !!! )
  • Now you know what I mean?
  • SHE’S GETTING ON MY NERVES!!!

Final Script_Scene 3

(Mother sitting down waiting for daughter to come back. Keep looking at her watch. Daughter came back.)

Mother: Why so late then come back? What you do out there? Eh, cannot hear arh? Answer leh!

Main Character: What?! People just come back, scream at my ears, you want me to go deaf arh?! Go away, don't want talk to you !!

Mother: You, you!!! I’m not going to let you out again !! You get it ??!!

(Main Character slams the door. Throw bag on the floor. )

Main Character: Why every time like that?! Urrhhhh!!!

(Main Character kicks the chair. Sat down and started crying.)

Final Script_Scene 4

One day during recess....

Teacher: Are you having some problems? You can feel free to tell me. You don’t seem like yourself recently. You were once a pro-active student.

Main Character: It’s like, I have a brother who is very good in his studies. He is my mum’s everything. She really dote him a lot, because he made her proud. But I’m very lousy in my studies and she said I’m a shame to her. It’s not like I don’t work hard, but I just can’t get things right, I just learn slower and she blames it on me. She doesn't get what I feel!

Teacher: Oh so this is what happens. Don’t worry, I will definitely help you. But I will need to talk to your mother. Is that okay??

( Main Character nods her head.)
( Teacher called Mother out for a meeting. )
( Mother realises her mistakes and apologised. )

(Brother teaching Main character how to do homework in the study room.)

(Mother walks in with a plate of fruits.)

Mother to brother: Oh my darling, you are so hardworking!!  Come have some fruits.

(Mother places the plate of fruits on the table. Main character stretches hand to get a piece of the fruit. Mother hit her hand.)

Mother to Main Character: This is for your brother, not for you. He’s so hardworking, and you?! You are such a shame! Go study! Touch again?! Touch again?!

(Mother walks out of the room.)

Main Character: Why is mum always so bias against me?? I hate my life!

(Main Character stomps out of the room. Went to her room and started to think back.)

~~Mother: Hey,________, long time no see!! Oh my god you still look so young! ^o^

Friend: Ahhh, you also lah, you also lah…ahahaha….

Main Character talking to camera:

·         You know why I hate my life? Because I hate my Mum.

·         You know why I hate my mum? Because she is so bias against me, I mean like what I do wrong, I just can’t study, it’s really not my fault, I really can’t help it.

·         Every time she sees me… (Mother nagging at the camera, close up, low angle).

·         Whatever my brother say… (Mother say, “Good idea!” “It’s ok, you tried your best!” “Need my help?”).

·         But whatever I say… (Mother say, “Don’t be mean!” “That’s not the way you do it!” “Don’t test the water, I warn you!” “Shut up!”).

·         Now you know what I mean?

(Main Character doing homework.)

Mother: Are you doing your homework? Every day listen to music. Go learn from your brother! See how hardworking he is?? Shame on you!!

In the past~~: (Just ignore and continue to do homework.)

Now~~: What lah?! Cannot see I doing my homework arh? (Throws the homework on the floor.)

: What’s your problem? Listen music means not doing homework arh? Stop being so old        fashioned lah!!!

(Main Character stomps out of the room.)

In the past~~: (Mother let Main Character stomp out.)

Another day......

Now~~: (Mother nags and follow Main Characters out.)
(Mother sitting down waiting for daughter to come back. Keep looking at her watch. Daughter came back.)

Mother: Why so late then come back? What you do out there? Eh, cannot hear arh? Answer leh!

Main Character: What lah?! People just come back scream at my ears?! You want me to go deaf arh?! Go away lah, I want to sleep.

Mother: You, you!!! I’m not going to let you out anymore! Come back home right after school! No more eating out with friends! If you do that, I will drag you home, you get it?!

(Main Character slams the door. Throw bag on the floor. )

Main Character: Why every time like that?! Urrhhhh!!!

(Main Character kicks the chair. Sat down on the floor and started crying.)

(Main Character went to school, shirt tucked out.)

(Sleep in class. Never do homework. Failed the math test. Very very restless every day.)

One lesson……

Teacher: ______, I want to talk to you after school.

After school……

Teacher: Are you having some problems? You can feel free to tell me. You don’t seem like yourself recently. You were once a pro-active student, but now you are like you just gave up on yourself. What had happened???

(Main Character shakes head.)

Teacher: You have to tell me so I can help you. I do wish to help my own student.

Main Character: It’s like, I have a brother that is very good in his studies. He is my mums everything. She really dote on him because he made her proud. But I’m very lousy in my studies and she said I’m a shame. It’s not like I don’t work hard as my brother does, but I just can’t get things right, I just learn slower and she blames it on me. She don’t get what I feel!

Teacher: Oh so this is what happens. Don’t worry, I will definitely help you. But I will need to talk to your mother. Is that okay??

(Main Character nods her head.)

(The three person in discussion at school.)

Mother: Sorry, daughter, it’s my fault. I should not be so bias against you.

Main Character: No, mum. It’s my fault, I expressed my anger wrongly, causing you to get the wrong idea. I’m sorry.

The day after that…….

(Mother walks into the study room with 2 plates of fruits.)

Mother: Studying? (Smile at Main Character) Have some fruits!

Main Character: Thanks Mum!

(Mother gives the brother another plate of fruits.)

Overview of Story (Week 4)


Scene 1:

Brother is very hard working and gets good results for everything. He gets bursaries and scholarships. Mother is very proud of him, she always boast to her friends about how smart her son is. Main Character is very bad in her studies. She gets very low marks and thus always ends up in the last few position for test and exams. It is not because she doesn’t want to study, but she just can’t get it. Mother is ashamed of her and every time the mother’s friends asked about her daughter’s result, she will try to change the topic.

Scene 2:

Main Character is angry, upset and disappointed that her mother is so bias against her. Her brother is always the priority. She can never be the same as her brother. Mother will get fed up when she see Main Character. Everything the brother say is correct and true, but everything she said is wrong and fake. She is really angry and upset, but she expressed her feelings in the wrong way, causing more trouble.

*Scene 3:

She then grew angry. She expressed her anger in wrong ways. She started to talk back to her mother, causing her mother to think that she is getting more rebellious, thus scolding her more often than ever. She started to go home very late every day, just to avoid her mother’s naggings and yelling.  This causes her mother to get suspicious and worried about what she’s doing outside there all this time. Mother banned her from going out of the house, except for going to school. She grew angrier and as she is being locked in the house, she started to hurt herself physically. She punched walls and flip tables, making a mess at home.

Scene 4:

It wasn’t totally her fault, her mother is at fault too, for being really bias against her. Soon everyone was angry at each other. Her teacher saw that she has been very restless in class recently, and asked what happened. The teacher talked to the mother and the Main Character and they realized their mistakes. Main Character became more hard working and mother became more understanding.

*Scene 3 may be separated into further scenes as there are quite a number of problems happening and cannot be filmed into one scene at a time.

Today's literature lesson was spent without Miss Jumiah :(  We summed up the overall decision and decided how the story should flow. But when we are going to start filming, the time is almost up, so we are called back...guess we have to stay back some other days to do it...

Final Decision On Scenerio To Use ( Week 2 )

We decided to use scenerio 2 as our final story.
We choose this scene as there are some things that we considered good about the flow of the story:
  • There are a few different problems faced in the story.
  • The problems are commonly faced by students so they can easily relate to how the characters feels.
  • The problem leads to the other and thus makes the story more interesting and also longer.
  • We have a very clear image on how the story should and would flow.

Brainstorming ( Week 0 )

Scenario 1:
Struggling with peer pressure.
  • One day, you saw your good friend smoking in the toilet.
  • You wanted to tell the teacher about it.
  • But your good friend kept pressuring you to not tell teacher the truth and that the friend even threaten you.
  • You are struggling to whether a not tell the truth or to lie.
Scenario 2:
Struggling with parents.
  • Your elder brother is very good in his studies. Yet you are always at the bottom few.
  • Your mother always compare you with him and is always bias against you.
  • Thus, you not only have to struggle to cope with your studies, you also have to cope with you mother's pressure.
Scenario 3:
Struggling with time management.
  • You have alot of activities for a day.
  • After school and CCA, you have to go to tuitions. Right after that, there is piano practice at night.
  • You are struggling with time management and you cannot cope.
Scenario 4:
Struggling with game addiction.
  • You are addicted to role-playing games.
  • Your friends are advising you not to play too much games but you do not heed their advice.
  • But deep down your heart, you wanted to stop playing so much computer games too.
  • You are struggling to try and quit this bad habit.
Scenario 5:
Struggling with other classmates.
  • You are a student from other country and you cannot speak fluent english.
  • You are struggling with communicating with other students in class, as well as handling discrimination.
